Visit the Pocono Mountains by Janette (September 2011)

Don't want to fly? Want to take a “mini vacation”? Looking for couples only/adult resorts close to home? Want to take the family that features lots to do for the children? The Pocono Mountains is within 100 miles of New York City and an easy drive.

I visited the Cove Haven Resorts, adults only, and happy to report that there are three resorts featuring year round activities. You can stay at one and play at all three. Most activities are included, both indoor and outdoor, entertainment and all you can eat dinners as well as breakfast in bed or in the dining room. An array of Suite Suggestions offers wonderful packages perfectly suited for anniversaries, weddings, honeymoons, birthdays or just to get away.

And have you heard of Great Wolf Lodges? Perfect for families with children of all ages. They have the most fantastic indoor water park I've ever seen. Again, any age is welcome and activities are geared to specific ages and themes. The accommodations are also perfectly suited for families with lots of privacy for the adults and children.

Touring the area reveals so much to do for everyone.......shopping, specialty shops, restaurants, casino, historical sites, beautiful scenery, water activites such as kayaking, canoing and rafting. And all within a couple of hours drive. Public transportation is also available.

Call us and we'll be happy to help you get the best location to suit your needs and wants. This time of the year is spectacular in the Pocono Mountains as the fall foliage comes to full “bloom”

Arizona Sights by Janette (March 2011)

Arizona...Visions of the southwest, desert, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Scottsdale/Phoenix, Tucson, phenomenal sunsets...and then there's Canyon Ranch Spa Resort, more golf than just about anywhere in the U.S., gorgeous blooms abound in the desert at this time of year (spring), gorgeous resorts, lots of shopping, Indian reservations, gambling, wonderful restaurants, and, of course, museums dedicated to the west and the western culture.

Phoenix/Scottsdale area.......Take your pick among some of the world's most beautiful resorts, e.g. The Phoenician, Hyatt at Gainey Ranch, Scottsdale Princess, to name just a few. The grounds are magnificent. Some sights to visit: the Heard Museum, the Wrigley Museum, Taliesin West (Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural wonder), Old Scottsdale and the trolley that takes you around this charming area with an array of western, antique shops and galleries. Arts and crafts are featured as nowhere else along with evening art walks. Take a jeep ride in the desert to experience a bit of the old west. Neighboring areas such as Cave Creek, Carefree, Mesa, Tempe offer quaint shops, restaurants, and expositions of all sorts. I visited a brand new casino and hotel on pre-opening day called Talking Stick Resort on the local indian reservation and I am anxious to revisit it when completed for the official opening in June. It is located in Scottsdale and will be near the spring training facility in the works for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. Did I forget to mention that major league baseball and football teams come out here for their spring training? And the Desert Botanical Gardens is such a joy to walk through and enjoy numerous exhibits throughout the year.

Go south and enjoy the approximately 2 hour ride to Tucson. The Desert Museum is a wonder and well worth a visit. Learn about the desert fauna and flora and experience it in various displays. And there's also the cowboy town that has been the site of so many cowboy movies. And personally I wouldn't leave without a stay at Canyon Ranch resort and spa to experience all the wonders of Arizona.

          February 2012 Update

A new addition to the Phoenix-Scottsdale area is the Musical Instrument Museum. The museum (MIM) is located in the northeastern part of Phoenix and celebrates the world's diverse musical cultures and showcases instruments from every country of the world. If you like museums, if you like music, if you like different cultures...in short, make this a stop on your Arizona visit. An absolute marvel and an astounding exhibition. MIM also features a gift shop, an art gallery, and a lovely casual restaurant with simple fare along with global entrees and wine.
